Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó called on the European Union to impose sanctions against three officials in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He stated this in his address.

The call for sanctions was prompted by the death of József Šebesztien, an ethnic Hungarian with dual citizenship of Ukraine and Hungary, allegedly after forced mobilization by the CCK military in Transcarpathia.

During his address, Szijjártó criticized the mobilization in Ukraine and stated that a “human hunt” is underway in the country.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister also expressed his outrage that European leaders are “turning their heads away from this situation.” According to Szijjártó, those responsible for Sebesztien’s death must “be found and punished.”

He added that Hungary has already submitted an initiative to impose sanctions against three officials of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the army leadership who “control conscription in Ukraine.”

At the same time, Szijjártó did not specify which Ukrainian officials he was referring to.

Earlier it became known that the Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine, Antal Heizer, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in connection with “unfriendly statements from Budapest.”

It was previously reported that the introduction of the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia was blocked due to the positions of Slovakia and Hungary .

By the way, Denmark wants to deprive Hungary of its voting rights in the EU for violating the bloc’s fundamental rights .
