Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he would block all European Union aid to Ukraine unless the EU supports the American “peace plan,” in a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

This is reported by Politico .

In the letter, Orban demands that the EU agree to support all of the US conditions set out in the so-called 28-point “peace plan”. The document calls for Ukraine to give up part of its territory, reduce its Armed Forces, and transfer 50% of the profits from the country’s future reconstruction to the US.

The journalists claim that they have obtained a copy of the letter. The article states that neither Ukraine nor the European Union countries participated in the creation of the plan. Most of the points have already been recognized as unacceptable in Europe.

During the correspondence, Orban wrote that European countries should support the American initiative and change their approach to negotiations with Russia.

“Europeans must immediately and unconditionally support the United States’ peace initiative… In addition to supporting the US President, we must begin autonomous and direct negotiations with Russia without delay,” Orban wrote.

Orban also stated in the letter his intention to block any further financial support to Ukraine from the European Union. He added that Hungary “does not support the European Union providing any further financial assistance to Ukraine in any form” and “does not agree to such a decision being made on behalf of and within the EU.”

European officials, commenting on the situation to journalists, called Orban’s position unfounded and stated that the European Union’s policy will not change.

“Other EU countries have repeatedly made clear their support for Ukraine, and this is unequivocal. European leaders, as well as partners outside the EU, are actively cooperating and coordinating their actions to continue this support in light of recent events,” one of the officials said.

Earlier, key provisions of the draft US “peace plan” , allegedly agreed upon by representatives of Donald Trump and the Kremlin, became known. The document contains 28 points relating to the security, territories, economy and political future of Ukraine.

Subsequently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the composition of the delegation for consultations with international partners on ending the war.

Recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine supposedly has no chance of winning the war against Russia , and financial support from the European Union is “madness.” He also expressed confidence that the European Union is losing economically by helping Ukraine.

The day before, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban explained why he did not join the joint statement of the leaders of the European Union countries in support of Ukraine , and also called for a separate EU summit with Russia.
