Hungary will direct 250,000 tons of oil from its strategic reserves to the domestic market after the cessation of supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

Reuters writes about this.

The government published the relevant document on its official website on December 19. It states that the decision was made in connection with the suspension of oil transportation via the Druzhba pipeline.

According to the decree, the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL will receive priority access to the released volumes. It will be the first to purchase oil from strategic reserves to ensure the stability of supply on the domestic market.

At the same time, the government did not specify how long the reserves will be used and whether additional steps are foreseen in the event of prolonged transit disruptions.

Previously, Hungary initiated negotiations with Croatia regarding the transportation of Russian oil via the Adriatic route after the termination of transit via the Druzhba pipeline, which passes through the territory of Ukraine.
