Hungary will block the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said his country would block the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

The head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on Platform X.

A meeting of the Council of the European Union is scheduled for Monday, February 23, where new restrictions against the Russian Federation are to be considered and approved.

Szijjártó stressed that Budapest will not support the decision on new sanctions.

“Until Ukraine resumes oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline, we will not allow progress on decisions that are important to Kyiv,” the minister stated.

As a reminder, the European Commission is demanding that Ukraine provide a clear deadline for repairs to the Druzhba pipeline. The pipeline, which supplied Russian oil to Europe, was damaged earlier this year.
