Hunted military and guided missiles: FSB agent detained in Rivne region

The SBU detained an FSB agent in the Rivne region who was collecting data on Ukrainian military personnel and preparing contract killings of Defense Forces soldiers. According to the investigation, the man also helped the Russians prepare strikes in the region.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the intelligence service, the agent turned out to be an unemployed local resident. He came to the attention of the FSB due to anti-Ukrainian comments he left in Telegram chats.

After being recruited, the man began collecting information about Ukrainian military bases by riding a motorcycle near potential targets and filming the area with a helmet-mounted dashcam.

The agent passed the obtained data to the Russian curator. In addition, according to the SBU, he provided FSB representatives with remote access to his smartphone and messenger accounts.

The SBU noted that the man later received an assignment from the curator to prepare for the murders of Ukrainian servicemen. He asked to be given weapons and ammunition to carry out these tasks. The agent also tried to obtain a drone to conduct reconnaissance of the positions of the Defense Forces.

The man was detained during another reconnaissance sortie near a military facility. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized a video recorder, a phone, and computer equipment. According to the investigation, they found evidence of cooperation with the FSB.

The man was charged with treason committed during martial law. The court chose custody as a preventive measure for him.

If convicted in court, the agent faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
