“I am your brother”: Richard Gere congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day

American actor Richard Gere, a Golden Globe winner best known for the films “Pretty Woman” and “Hachiko”, recorded a video message to Ukrainians on Independence Day.

This was reported by Yaroslava Gres, co-founder of the Ukraine Wow project.

“I am writing to you from New York and conveying my best wishes. Today I would like to read a poem by Ukrainian poet Yuriy Izdryk. To all the people of Ukraine, to each of you, I extend my warmest greetings and express my full and unwavering support. Happy Independence Day of Ukraine! I stand by you. I am your brother,” Gere said.

After that, the actor read a poem by Yuri Izdryk. The text was translated into English by Roman Ivashkiv and Erin Moure. At the end of the video, Gere said the final words in Ukrainian.
