“I hope the Magyars will bomb Druzhba”: a dispute arose between Polish and Hungarian ministers
A public dispute has erupted between the foreign ministers of Poland and Hungary amid Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s visit to Budapest.
In particular, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó spread the news with a statement by Polish official Radysław Sikorski that if Putin flies to Hungary via Poland, his plane may be forced to land.
“We cannot guarantee that an independent court will not order the Polish government to detain the plane with Vladimir Putin on board if it enters Polish airspace,” Sikorsky noted.
Szijjártó responded by pointing out that the Polish court had not extradited the suspect in the Nord Stream 2 sabotage.
“Radislav Sikorsky is talking about an independent court that, on the orders of Donald Tusk, refused to extradite the terrorist who blew up the pipeline,” the Hungarian minister said in a statement.
In response, the Polish Foreign Minister stated that he was proud of the court, which ruled “that sabotage of the invader is not a crime.”
“Moreover, I hope that your brave compatriot, Major Magyar (Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovda – ed.), will finally be able to disable the oil pipeline that feeds Putin’s military machine, and you will receive your oil through Croatia,” Sikorsky added.
These words caused a stormy reaction in Hungary. In particular, the State Secretary for International Communications and Relations in the Office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Zoltan Kovacs, called the Polish minister’s statement “shocking” and “irresponsible.”
“With his irresponsible statement, he is jeopardizing the historic Polish-Hungarian friendship and Hungarian energy security. Blowing up the oil pipeline will bring us closer not to peace, but to the escalation of war,” he wrote.
Recall, Donald Trump intends to meet with the head of the Kremlin in Hungary in order to put an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
It later became known that preparations for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Budapest have been suspended for now .
