“I wanted to scare you”: a man threw a live grenade at a minibus in Kyiv

A 59-year-old man will go on trial in Kyiv after throwing an F-1 grenade at a taxi at a parking lot in the Darnytskyi district due to a conflict with a colleague. No one was injured during the incident, and the offender faces up to seven years in prison.

A dangerous incident occurred at a transport company parking lot in the capital’s Darnytskyi district: at around 6 a.m., one of the drivers threw an F-1 grenade in the direction of another taxi that was leaving for the route. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the bus suffered mechanical damage.

The Darnytsia Police Department’s investigative and operational group, explosives technicians, and dog handlers arrived at the scene. Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator and seized grenade fragments.

The man, a 59-year-old Kyiv resident with a criminal record, said he threw the grenade to scare a colleague with whom he had a long-standing conflict.

Investigators from the Darnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office charged the man with hooliganism using an object specially designed to inflict bodily harm and illegal handling of ammunition.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed, the indictment has been sent to court. The articles carry a penalty of up to seven years in prison.

Recall that in the Kyiv region, a domestic violence call turned into a bloody incident: a man detonated a live grenade just as the police were intervening . Five law enforcement officers were injured in the explosion, and the attacker himself was killed on the spot. An arsenal of weapons was found in his house.

Earlier, in the Mykolaiv region in the city of Voznesensk , a man threw a grenade at police officers , as a result of which one law enforcement officer was killed and three others were injured.
