The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will deploy its missions to 19 power substations in Ukraine. The decision was made against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga.

According to him, on October 13 in Warsaw he met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. The parties discussed the security situation of Ukrainian nuclear facilities in the face of Russian attacks.

During the meeting, Grossi agreed to send agency missions to 19 Ukrainian electrical substations.

As Sibiga noted, this will be the largest deployment of IAEA missions of this type ever.

The minister stressed that the presence of the agency’s representatives is especially important now, as Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s energy system. According to him, this will help strengthen nuclear and physical nuclear security.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of an energy truce in the war between Ukraine and Russia . According to him, both sides agreed to stop attacks on energy facilities.
