Ice in Kyiv is crippling: Servant of the People deputy breaks his spine

Kyiv City Council deputy from the Servant of the People party, Yevhen Kuzmenko, suffered a serious injury due to ice in the capital – he broke his spine.

The politician announced this on January 19 on his Facebook page.

According to Kuzmenko, he has been forced to stop working for at least four months due to a fractured spine. The MP spoke about his injury in the context of the difficult situation on Kyiv’s roads and sidewalks, which were covered in ice.

In his post, he emotionally addressed the responsible services: “I sincerely thank the city services and management companies. Winter came unexpectedly. I am ashamed of our work with you,” Kuzmenko wrote.

Yevhen Kuzmenko is 34 years old. He has been a deputy of the Kyiv City Council since 2020, holds the position of deputy chairman of the commission on architecture, urban planning and land relations, and is also a member of the political council of the Kyiv organization of the Servant of the People party.

It is worth noting that Kyiv has been experiencing severe ice for several days. Medical institutions are recording a sharp increase in the number of victims due to falls on slippery surfaces and the effects of low temperatures. According to the Kyiv City State Administration’s health department, as of January 15, 308 people sought help due to injuries, more than 50 of whom were hospitalized. Doctors are urging residents of the capital to be especially careful to avoid injuries and hypothermia.
