In Lviv, the prosecutor’s office reported suspicions against the director of a charitable foundation who implemented a fraudulent scheme and seized funds intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, between December 2023 and February 2025, a 41-year-old Lviv resident, under the pretext of supplying cars and equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defrauded a military serviceman and a volunteer of over 1.3 million hryvnias.
The suspect used his charitable foundation to simulate providing aid. The man promised to purchase 7 cars of various models, thermal imaging sights, and quadcopters for the needs of the military.
“Taking advantage of the victims’ trust, the suspect received money from them in advance for the ordered goods. Payment was made both directly to the suspect’s bank cards and through one of the electronic payment systems,” the report says.
However, the man did not deliver the ordered goods, but instead used the money he received as he pleased.
It is known that in this way he deceived four servicemen and one volunteer.
Currently, at the request of the prosecution, a preventive measure has been chosen for him, which includes detention with the right to post bail.
