In a morgue in the Kharkiv region, an employee appropriated jewelry belonging to fallen defenders of Ukraine

An employee of one of the morgues in the Chuhuyiv district of the Kharkiv region was caught stealing gold jewelry from the bodies of fallen servicemen. The woman used her official position to appropriate the personal belongings of the defenders of Ukraine.

This is reported by the Kharkiv Region Police.

In April 2025, law enforcement officers detained a morgue employee during an investigation. According to police, she was removing jewelry from the bodies of deceased soldiers and keeping it for herself.

She was informed of suspicion under Part One of Article 185 (theft) and Part Three of Article 297 (desecration of the body of a deceased person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Police are currently identifying all victims of her illegal actions.

The police are urging citizens who have lost loved ones and have reason to believe that the personal belongings or jewelry of the deceased have disappeared to contact the criminal police department of the Kupyansky district department at 099 036 54 52 or the Kupyansky RVP on duty at 050 401 52 82.

We will remind you that in Kyiv, an intruder, disguised as a cleaner , stole money and valuables from the owners , and the perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison for this crime.
