In Bukovina, a former police officer transported draft dodgers under the guise of special forces.
A former Kyiv regional police inspector who transported conscripts to the border under the guise of special forces soldiers will stand trial in Bukovina.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this.
In August of this year, a former law enforcement officer transported five men to a border region of the Chernivtsi region, from where they planned to illegally leave Ukraine.
To avoid detection at checkpoints, he tried to pass off the passengers as special forces officers—he prepared uniforms, used official vehicles, and drove with flashing lights, creating the appearance of a business trip.
As they approached the checkpoint in the village of Ataki, the car was stopped by police and border guards. According to investigators, each of the men paid between $3,000 and €6,000 to arrange the crossing.
Prosecutors from the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment under Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—facilitating the illegal transfer of persons across the state border. The former law enforcement officer faces up to nine years in prison.
Earlier in June, law enforcement officers uncovered a large criminal network that was selling counterfeit documents and fake copies of the official Action and Reserve+ apps to those evading military service.
Also in Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officers detained a lawyer who, for fifteen thousand dollars, agreed to produce false documents to evade conscription and illegally cross the border.
As a reminder, the State Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation into a law enforcement officer from the Chernivtsi region suspected of organizing the illegal transfer of conscripts across the border. The indictment has already been submitted to court.
