In Bulgaria, a pro-Russian party gains a majority in parliament.

The pro-Russian Progressive Bulgaria party has won the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria , forming a single-party majority in parliament, according to preliminary results.

As of 11:00 AM, the Central Election Commission had processed 96.41% of the votes. According to the data, Progressive Bulgaria received 44.7% of the votes.

The GERB party took second place with 13.4%. The PP-DB bloc came in third with 12.8%. DPS (6.6%) and Vozrozhdenie (4.3%) followed.

Progressive Bulgaria has received preliminary results for 131 seats in the 240-seat parliament, allowing it to independently form a majority (at least 121 seats are needed). The other parties have distributed their seats as follows: GERB and PP-DB have 39 each, DPS has 18, and Revival has 13.

This is the country’s eighth parliamentary election since 2021. The vote took place on April 19, and the interim government oversaw the electoral process.

The final results will determine the composition of the new parliament, which will form the government and adopt the state budget.
