In Cherkasy region, an SUV “flew” into a tree: the driver died on the spot, two passengers in the hospital

A traffic accident occurred on Nezalezhnosti Street in Zolotonosha, killing a 31-year-old driver of a Toyota car, and injuring two passengers who were hospitalized. The police have opened a criminal case on the fact of violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of a person.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to preliminary investigation data, the driver of the Toyota car drove into the oncoming lane and did not keep a safe distance. As a result, he hit a curb, lost control and collided with a tree.

As a result of the accident, the driver, a 31-year-old man, died at the scene. Two passengers — a 24-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man — received injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized to a local hospital.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Violation of traffic safety rules caused the death of the driver and injury to passengers,” the police said.

A pre-trial investigation is underway, during which investigators will collect evidence, inspect the scene, and determine all the circumstances of the accident.

Earlier, on December 12, at around 9:10 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi highway near the village of Antonivtsi . As a result of the accident, the driver of one of the cars died, and two more people were injured and hospitalized.

By the way, a serious road accident involving a school bus occurred in the Kamyansk district of Dnipropetrovsk region . Two people died as a result of the accident, and seven more, including a child, were injured.
