In Crimea, an electrical substation near Alushta caught fire after a drone attack

On the night of July 20, Ukrainian drones attacked temporarily occupied Crimea. Explosions were heard in several cities on the peninsula, and a fire broke out at an electrical substation near Alushta.

This is reported by the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind”.

According to local media, explosions were heard in Alushta, Yalta, Feodosia, Kerch, and in the area of the Balaklava TPP.

The Crimean Wind monitoring group reported that the attack caused a fire at the Privitne 110/10 kV electrical substation. It is noted that such conclusions were made based on the analysis of satellite images.

The substation is one of the key facilities of the energy infrastructure of the enterprise “Krymenergo”. It is located in the village of Privitne, Alushta urban district and provides electricity to the village itself, Kanatskaya Balka, as well as resort and tourist areas of the Southern coast of Crimea. The facility is equipped with two power transformers with a total installed capacity of 50 MVA.

According to the monitoring group, the explosions in Alushta occurred around midnight, and the city lost power at approximately 00:40. A video also appeared online showing a fire near the Alushta substation.

Amid the night attack, the occupation administration temporarily blocked traffic on the Crimean Bridge.

It was previously reported that in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russian authorities are tightening restrictions on mobile communications and Internet access , as well as installing landline phones for emergency services. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, such measures are related to Russia’s military needs and increased control over the information space.
