In Ivano-Frankivsk, a minor was preparing to attack the Burshtynskaya TPP
The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a 17-year-old Russian military intelligence agent in Ivano-Frankivsk who was helping the enemy prepare a new attack on the energy infrastructure of the Carpathian region. The main target of the Russians was the Burshtyn thermal power plant.
This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
According to the investigation, the girl was recruited remotely after she posted an ad online looking for work. Representatives of the Russian GRU promised “easy money” and instructed her to conduct additional reconnaissance near the Burshtynskaya TPP.
The agent was supposed to find out the technical condition of the station after the previous shelling, photograph the outer perimeter, and hand over the materials to the curator. For the conspiracy, she left Ivano-Frankivsk by taxi and headed to the power facility on foot.
At the scene, the girl took photos and videos of the TPP buildings with reference to electronic coordinates. Separately, investigators established that she also studied one of the support substations in Ivano-Frankivsk.
SBU counterintelligence officers detained an agent near a strategic facility. During the detention, a smartphone with intelligence and correspondence with a Russian special agent was seized from her. During a search of the home, law enforcement officers found four more mobile phones that she used to change communication channels.
SBU investigators informed the defendant of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law. The court took her into custody without bail. The girl faces up to 10 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by SBU officers in the Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
As previously reported, Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented an attempted sabotage at a railway infrastructure facility in the Khmelnytskyi region.
