In Ivano-Frankivsk, a police officer hit and killed a pedestrian and fled the scene

In Ivano-Frankivsk on April 5, a police officer hit a man at a crosswalk and left the scene. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.

The traffic accident occurred at around 00:26 on Halytska Street. It has been previously established that the driver of the car hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing, after which he left the scene.

As a result of the collision, a man born in 1994 died at the scene from his injuries.

During the initial investigation, law enforcement officers identified the vehicle and the driver, who turned out to be a 26-year-old employee of the Ivano-Frankivsk District Police Department.

After establishing his whereabouts, he was taken for primary investigative actions.

Upon the fact of the accident, the materials will be transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation.

“The Precarpathian Police will do their utmost to facilitate a full, comprehensive and objective investigation into the circumstances of this traffic accident,” the police said.

Recall that on the night of March 6, during the curfew in Vinnytsia, patrol police officers noticed a Toyota Land Cruiser and signaled the driver to stop. However, the 25-year-old driver of the SUV ignored the law enforcement officers’ request and began to flee. He crashed into a street sweeper driven by a 55-year-old man. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.
