In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a CCC officer brutally beat a man, one of the victim’s organs was removed

After numerous complaints from citizens and MPs about abuse in one of the territorial recruitment centers of the Carpathian region, investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation conducted an inspection and opened criminal proceedings. As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers documented several cases of gross abuse of authority by an official.

According to the investigation, the officer used force against the man who refused to undergo a fluorography examination. The head of the CCC repeatedly hit him – at least five times. As a result of the beating, the victim received serious injuries that led to the need for surgical removal of one of his organs.

He is charged with Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power under martial law, which resulted in grave consequences. The article provides for a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.

The court chose a preventive measure for the officer in the form of detention without the possibility of bail.

The State Bureau of Investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the incidents and is investigating whether other law enforcement officers may have been involved in illegal actions.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Western Region is responsible for procedural management of the case.
