In Ivano-Frankivsk, two soldiers attacked an Azov fighter: all the details of the incident

A high-profile attack on a soldier of the special forces assault brigade “Azov” took place in the very center of Ivano-Frankivsk. Two men, armed with a telescopic baton and tear gas, injured the soldier, after which they fled the scene.

This was reported by the specialized prosecutor’s office of the western region.

It is noted that law enforcement officers quickly identified the attackers: they turned out to be servicemen of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The incident occurred on June 13, 2025 in the courtyard of one of the residential buildings in Ivano-Frankivsk. According to the investigation, two suspects attacked a local resident, a soldier of the Azov combat brigade, who was participating in combat operations at the front.

During the attack, they used a chemical substance, spraying it in the victim’s face, and then inflicted numerous blows with an object resembling a telescopic stick. As a result, the fighter received chemical burns to his eyes and bruises of varying severity.

After the attack, the attackers fled, but the police and the Security Service of Ukraine managed to establish their identities and location in a short time.

What is most shocking is that the attackers turned out to be active-duty military personnel. According to the Ivano-Frankivsk Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Western Region, both suspects are servicemen from another unit.

They have now been officially notified of suspicion of hooliganism committed by a group of individuals in advance of a conspiracy using weapons or means prepared in advance to cause harm.

The prosecutor’s office has already filed a petition with the court to impose preventive measures. In addition, other circumstances of the incident are being established.

Operational support in the case is provided by the Main Police Department and the Internal Affairs Bureau of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. If found guilty, the attackers face up to 7 years in prison.
