In July, Russia’s losses reached almost 43,000 troops – General Staff

In July 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces inflicted some of the heaviest losses on the Russian army since the start of the full-scale war. In that month, Russian troops lost approximately 42,860 service members.
This is evidenced by data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the number of killed and seriously wounded Russian soldiers in July was the highest since January 2025. In terms of enemy personnel losses, July was among the four most productive months for the Defense Forces during the entire period of the full-scale war.
The total losses of the Russian army in personnel as of February 24, 2022, according to the Ukrainian General Staff, amount to 1,461,660 people.
Record losses of Russian equipment
A separate record was set in July for the number of damaged Russian vehicles.
Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled 13,998 Russian vehicles. This is the highest monthly figure since the start of the full-scale war.
At the same time, the Defence Forces continued to strike Russian air defences and armoured vehicles.
A month later, it was struck:
- 68 air defense systems;
- 162 tanks;
- 204 armored combat vehicles;
- 2016 year of artillery systems.
Thus, July became one of the most productive months for the Defense Forces in terms of losses of Russian personnel and, at the same time, a record for the number of destroyed and damaged Russian vehicles.
