In Kent, the Ukrainian choir C4U Ladies’ Choir warmed the hearts of defenders for the third time on Ukraine’s Independence Day

On August 24, on the 34th Independence Day of Ukraine, in Kent, Great Britain, the Ukrainian women’s choir C4U Ladies’ Choir performed for the third time before Ukrainian military personnel undergoing training in the UK as part of the international program Operation Interflex.

The choir is made up of Ukrainian women displaced by war who have found refuge in Canterbury and East Kent.

The concert was a celebration of the unity of Ukrainian and British cultures: the choir’s performances alternated with the British military orchestra Eynsford Concert Band, conducted by retired Lieutenant Colonel Mike Smith. The event was attended by representatives of the English charity Canterbury for Ukraine, which supported the choir and the military.

The servicemen warmly welcomed the artists: they gave a standing ovation, recorded the performance on their phones, some could not hold back tears during the heartfelt songs, and some shone flashlights from their phones, creating an atmosphere of unity and support.

As Canterbury for Ukraine press officer Maryna Shkinder noted: “It was a great honor for our choir to sing for the Ukrainian military. They are true heroes to us, and it is a true blessing to support them here.”

The event attracted the attention of British and Ukrainian media, demonstrating international solidarity and support for those who defend Ukraine and Western values, including justice.

Canterbury for Ukraine is a registered charity (No. 1204746) supporting displaced Ukrainians and promoting cultural understanding since 2022.

Operation Interflex is a UK-led international programme to train Ukrainian military personnel, involving 13 partner countries. As of June 2025, over 56,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been trained under the programme.
