In Khmelnytskyi region, a 9-year-old boy died after a “feast” with a neighbor

Prosecutors in the Khmelnytskyi region have referred a case to court against a 55-year-old resident of the Khmelnytskyi district. The man is accused of leaving a minor in danger, which led to his death, as well as of illegal drug possession.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The investigation established that the man was friends with a 9-year-old neighbor boy. In January 2026, they drank alcohol together at his house. After that, the accused let the child go home without taking care of his safety.

On the way, the boy got lost, fell into a snowdrift, lost consciousness and died from the toxic effects of alcohol.

During the pre-trial investigation, drugs that he kept at home were also seized from the man. He was detained, reported on suspicion, and placed in custody as a preventive measure.

The prosecutor’s office reminded that according to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

It was previously reported that in the Khmelnytskyi region , law enforcement officers reported suspicions to a 55-year-old man, who is suspected of involvement in the death of a 9-year-old boy after drinking alcohol.
