In Kropyvnytskyi, a man threw grenades at police officers and opened fire: a special operation is underway

On Monday, October 12, explosions and gunshots were heard in the center of Kropyvnytskyi. According to police, an armed man threw grenades at law enforcement officers and then began shooting with a machine gun. A special police operation “Thunder” was declared in the city.

Local residents heard the first explosions at around 5:53 p.m. According to local media, at least six explosions were heard in the city center. However, no airstrike was declared in Kropyvnytskyi at that time.

Reports of a man with a machine gun and grenades began to appear on social media. Police arrived at the scene, blocked off the street, and attempted to detain the armed man.

Police later confirmed that while speaking with law enforcement officers, the man threw grenades at them and then opened fire with a machine gun.

To detain him, law enforcement officers launched a special operation “Thunder” and involved the necessary police units.

According to Suspilny , at around 8:48 p.m., shots rang out again in the center of Kropyvnytskyi.

At the time of the report, police were continuing the operation to detain the man. There is no information about the victims yet.
