In Kryvyi Rih, after a Russian strike on a shopping mall, police have launched an investigation into official negligence. The director of one of the supermarkets, who continued to work during the airstrikes, was reported to be suspicious.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi.

Investigators of the Dnipropetrovsk Region Police, under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, will investigate the actions of officials of the company that owns the shopping center, as well as enterprises that rented premises there.

Local authorities had previously warned of the need to stop work during air raids. However, one of the facilities continued to operate, and a significant number of the dead were found there.

The Russian strike on the shopping mall killed 16 people and injured about 130. About 20 minutes passed between the airstrike and the first drone strike.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers will determine whether employees and visitors were properly informed, whether the evacuation of the building was announced in a timely manner, and will also check information about the possible blocking of the doors to the shelter. Separately, investigators will study the actions of all responsible persons and the approved algorithms for responding to air alarms, in particular their compliance with real threats in the frontline region.

“At a time when Russia is purposefully attacking shopping centers and hypermarkets, a responsible attitude towards people’s safety should come first,” Vyhovsky emphasized.

He called on leaders at all levels to respond promptly to air alerts and take necessary measures to prevent crowds and protect their lives.

By the way, intelligence has warned of possible new Russian attacks on large shopping centers in frontline cities of Ukraine , in particular in Kryvyi Rih. Residents are urged not to be in places of mass gathering of people during the threat and to immediately go to shelters.

As is known, on August 21, Russian troops twice attacked a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. The strikes killed 6 people and injured 91 others, including 6 children. Later, it became known that the number of dead and injured in Kryvyi Rih as a result of the Russian attack on the shopping center had increased . According to the latest data, 15 people were killed and 130 others were injured, including 23 children.
