In Kyiv, police have detained a man suspected of murdering his hostel neighbor. According to investigators, during a conflict, he fatally stabbed the victim, after which he fled.

The Dniprovskyi Police Department of Kyiv received a report from doctors about the discovery of the body of a man with a stab wound in a hostel on Mytropolyta Sheptytskyi Street. Investigative and operational teams and a forensic expert went to the scene.

Law enforcement officers determined that a conflict had arisen between two hostel residents. During a verbal argument, a 51-year-old native of Zaporizhzhia region, who had been living in the hostel for a long time, stabbed a 34-year-old native of Kyiv region, who had been living in the hostel for only two days, in the heart with a kitchen knife. The victim died from the injuries he received on the spot.

Within an hour, investigators from the Dnipro Police Department, together with analysts from the criminal analysis sector and dog handlers, located and detained the suspect near the crime scene. According to police, the detainee is a military serviceman who was in the status of a military serviceman.

Investigators have charged the man with premeditated murder. The article carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison. Law enforcement officers have now filed a motion with the court to have the suspect placed in custody as a preventive measure.
