In Kyiv, heads of municipal enterprises were placed under suspicion for injuring more than 6,000 pedestrians.
In Kyiv, heads of public utility companies were served with notices of suspicion for improperly clearing roads and sidewalks, which led to mass injuries during icy conditions.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported this.
According to the prosecutor’s office, more than 6,169 pedestrians, including 321 children, were injured due to slippery roads and sidewalks. 1,155 people, including 66 children, were hospitalized.
Injuries were recorded in all areas of the city.
In the Podilskyi district, several people suffered complex leg fractures. Specifically, a 68-year-old woman broke both bones in her left tibia, incurring 57,000 hryvnias in medical expenses. Another woman suffered a hip fracture (45,500 hryvnias in expenses), and a man suffered two fractures in his left leg (50,000 hryvnias). Another woman fractured the heel bone of her right foot three times, incurring 24,700 hryvnias in medical expenses.
In the Holosiivskyi district, icy conditions caused two accidents: one car crashed into a pole, and another into a concrete barrier. The total damage amounts to almost 1 million hryvnias.
In the Svyatoshinsky district, a pensioner slipped near a pump room, sustained a displaced fracture of the humerus, and spent 240,000 hryvnias on treatment.
In the Desnyansky district, a woman fractured her tibia with displacement and damage to her knee joint and requires surgery. There have also been cases of arm and leg fractures after falls on stairs and sidewalks.
In the Darnitsky district, seven people sought medical attention, including a child with a broken collarbone and an elderly woman with a complex fracture of the tibia after falling from a minibus.
In the Solomensky district, one person suffered a fractured vertebra and filed a civil lawsuit for 500,000 hryvnias against utility services.
In the Pechersk district, several pedestrians suffered broken arms and legs, spending between 25,000 and 89,000 UAH on treatment.
In the Dniprovskyi district, two accidents occurred, resulting in serious damage to vehicles, and five pedestrians were injured with fractures and dislocations.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a pensioner suffered a displaced fracture of her tibia and spent over 40,000 hryvnias on treatment. Other victims also suffered wrist and tibia fractures and a torn meniscus.
The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that the investigation is ongoing, and officials of the utility companies are accused of official negligence.
