In Kyiv, heat was restored to more than 650 homes overnight, while nearly 2,000 remain without heating.

On the night of January 23, utility services and energy companies restored heat to more than 650 residential buildings in Kyiv.

This was announced by the city mayor Vitali Klitschko.

According to him, as of this morning, another 1,940 multi-story buildings remain without power. These are buildings that are being reconnected to the grid after the Russian attacks on January 9 and 20.

Most of these buildings are located on the capital’s left bank, as well as in the Pechersky district. Some buildings without heat remain in the Holosiivsky and Solomensky districts.

The situation in Kyiv and the surrounding region remains challenging due to the aftermath of the massive shelling. More than 160 emergency crews are working to restore power and heat, and specialists from other regions of Ukraine have been brought in to assist.

As is known, Ukraine’s energy system is facing challenging conditions due to intense Russian shelling and the worst winter in 20 years. Due to the energy emergency, the government has developed a set of measures to address its consequences.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is unable to cover more than a third of its domestic electricity needs due to damage to the power grid. Consumption yesterday reached 18 gigawatts, while the grid’s capacity is only 11 gigawatts.

Due to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, many Ukrainians are left without electricity and heat this winter. Safe ways to heat your home are discussed , along with dangerous methods that can lead to poisoning or explosions.
