In Lviv region, a driver detonated a grenade while communicating with the police: details of the incident

In the town of Rudky, Sambirskyi district, Lviv region, a car driver detonated a grenade while talking to police officers. The man was injured and hospitalized.

This was reported by the Lviv region police.

The incident occurred today at around 6:00 p.m. in Rudky. Police officers from the patrol police response sector of police station No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 stopped an Alfa Romeo car, the driver of which violated traffic rules.

While talking to law enforcement officers, the driver, a 37-year-old resident of a village in the Sambir district, unexpectedly pulled out a grenade and detonated it. The explosion injured the man.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives, as well as under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer.

The maximum penalty under these articles is imprisonment for a term of 9 to 15 years or life imprisonment. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.

It was previously reported that a 59-year-old man will be tried in Kyiv who, due to a conflict with a colleague, threw an F-1 grenade at a minibus at a parking lot in the Darnytskyi district. No one was injured during the incident, and the offender faces up to seven years in prison.

Recall that in the Kyiv region, a domestic violence call turned into a bloody incident: a man detonated a live grenade just as the police were intervening . Five law enforcement officers were injured in the explosion, and the attacker himself was killed on the spot. An arsenal of weapons was found in his house.
