In Lviv region, Audi driver crashed into car, killed a person and told about another crime

In Pustomyty, Lviv region, a 24-year-old Audi driver caused a fatal accident while trying to escape from police. After being detained, the man claimed to have killed his mother. Law enforcement officers confirmed the woman’s death.

The accident occurred on June 24 at around 7:10 a.m. on Hlynska Street in Pustomyty. Police officers noticed an Audi Q5 without a front license plate and attempted to stop the car.

The driver began to flee at high speed in the direction of the exit from Lviv. While driving, he collided with a police car and then crashed into a Volkswagen.

The impact sent the Volkswagen into the yard of a private home, where it overturned. The driver of the car died at the scene.

The driver of the Audi was detained by patrol officers. He turned out to be a 24-year-old resident of Lviv.

During the arrest, the man reported that he had killed his mother. Police checked the information and found the woman in the apartment with stab wounds.

The man has now been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He has also been sent for a medical examination.

Investigators have opened criminal proceedings into the facts of intentional murder and a fatal road accident. Investigative actions are ongoing.
