Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in October the Defense Forces inflicted record losses on the Russian army and liberated more territory than the occupiers were able to capture. According to him, in a month Russia lost 54,400 soldiers killed and seriously wounded, while Ukrainian defenders regained 96.2 square kilometers of territory.

According to the president, the October losses of the Russian army were a record for all months of the full-scale war. He also reported a record daily losses: on October 21, the Russian army lost 2,250 soldiers.

Zelensky noted that in October, the Defense Forces liberated 96.2 square kilometers of Ukrainian land. This is 10.4 square kilometers more than the Russian occupiers were able to capture during this period.

The President thanked the Ukrainian military and units of the Defense Forces for the achieved result.

“Russia is losing. We are maintaining our positions, liberating the territory, and making sure that every day of the war costs the aggressor as much as possible,” Zelensky said.

He also emphasized that Russia can stop the losses by choosing a ceasefire and diplomacy.

We will remind you that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the statements of the Russian command about the alleged seizure of more than 1,800 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory and 92 settlements since September 1. The General Staff emphasized that a number of cities and villages remain under the control of Ukraine, and since the beginning of autumn, the Defense Forces have liberated more territories than Russian troops have captured.
