The leader of the Polish Law and Justice party, Jarosław Kaczyński, has spoken out about alleged illegal excavations on the territory of former Polish villages in Ukraine. He claims that “black diggers” may be stealing the remains and valuables of victims, including those of the Volyn tragedy.

He wrote about this in X.

According to the Polish politician, illegal excavations are allegedly being carried out in the territory he called “Eastern Galicia”, referring to the western regions of Ukraine.

“The desecration of the remains of the deceased and the theft of the valuables of victims, in particular victims of the Volyn massacre, by so-called groups of “black diggers” for the purpose of profit is taking place with the consent of local Ukrainian authorities,” Kaczynski said.

He called this information “terrible and sad” and announced that his party plans to appeal to the highest state bodies of Poland, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We will demand explanations and a response to this criminal practice,” Kaczynski said.

The day before, the Polish leadership positively assessed the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the settlement of Ukrainian-Polish relations .

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on Poland to exercise restraint after the Sejm considered a bill that would equate the propaganda of the ideology of the OUN and UPA with the propaganda of Nazism and communism.
