In Poltava region, a teenager was preparing a terrorist attack against police officers
The SBU detained a 17-year-old Russian agent who was preparing a double terrorist attack near a police station in Kremenchuk.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Counterintelligence officers prevented a series of explosions in the Poltava region. According to the investigation, a minor planted two improvised explosive devices with remote activation near the local police station.
According to the plan of the curators from the Russian Federation, they were to first detonate one explosive device on the night of April 17, and after the arrival of emergency services, activate the second one to cause more damage.
Law enforcement officers uncovered the plot in advance and defused the explosives. The suspect was arrested “red-handed” immediately after planting the devices.
The investigation established that the 17-year-old high school student agreed to carry out the occupiers’ tasks after searching for “easy money” in Telegram channels. Following the supervisor’s instructions, he purchased components for explosives and assembled them in a rented garage.
After agreeing on the location of the terrorist attack, he set out at night to plant the devices without witnesses.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized remnants of explosive components and communication equipment with evidence of contacts with a representative of the Russian special services.
Investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of attempted terrorist attack. The court took him into custody.
He faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier it was reported that an unknown person opened fire on people in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv . Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a child was injured as a result of the shooting in the capital, and is currently hospitalized.
As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained three men who carried out a double terrorist attack in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv on December 11. The detentions took place “hot on the trail” within 6 hours of the explosions.
