In Russia, a GRAU ammunition depot was attacked: evacuation announced

On the night of Tuesday, January 6, explosions rang out all night in the city of Neya, Kostroma Oblast, Russia. The strike hit the GRAU arsenal, a facility of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

This was reported by the Telegram channel Supernova+.

After the attack, plumes of smoke appeared over the city, and local authorities announced the evacuation of residents. According to available information, the ammunition depot of military unit 55486, known as the 100th arsenal, was destroyed.

Another Telegram channel, Exelinova+, also confirmed the strike. It said the explosions continued throughout the night, initially raising doubts about the nature of the incident. The regional governor later confirmed the evacuation of residents of areas near the arsenal.

The authors of the reports note that this is not the first attack on this facility, but this time the strike was likely effective.

According to open sources, the attacked arsenal is responsible for the formation and storage of ammunition stocks for the western and central directions. In the future, this ammunition is distributed among lower-level arsenals and military bases.

It was previously reported that one person was killed in a drone strike in Tver, Russia.

As a reminder, the Russian plant PJSC “Energia”, which manufactures batteries for drones, as well as batteries for aviation and the Russian Navy, has been attacked again.
