An industrial zone in the city of Kirishi, home to one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, has been hit. Local authorities have confirmed the attack on the area around the plant.
This is the Kirish Refinery, which produces fuel and petrochemical products and is key for the region.
Explosions were also reported in Vyborg – according to preliminary data, air defenses were operating there.
Photos and videos are being posted on social media showing flares and a reddish sky — likely the effects of a drone attack.
