In the Carpathian region, a drunken TCC officer assaulted a subordinate; the soldier required surgery.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, law enforcement officers detained a senior lieutenant from the district’s Transport and Communications Center and Special Purpose Department. According to investigators, he assaulted a subordinate soldier while intoxicated. The victim required surgery.
The State Bureau of Investigation reported this.
The incident occurred on the night of August 13. According to investigators, the deputy company commander arrived at the military base drunk and decided to discipline a 45-year-old soldier from Lviv who was on duty.
The officer humiliated his subordinate, demonstrated his superiority, and used physical force against him. As a result of the beating, the soldier suffered a closed rupture of the left acromioclavicular joint.
Around five o’clock the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was scheduled for surgery.
Eyewitnesses and a medical examination confirmed that the officer was intoxicated. His blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.69 ppm.
Law enforcement officers detained the serviceman and charged him under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official authority by a military official under martial law.
He faces up to 12 years in prison.
