In the Khmelnytskyi region, a 9-year-old boy died after drinking with a neighbor.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officials have issued a notice of suspicion to a 55-year-old man suspected of involvement in the death of a 9-year-old boy after drinking alcohol.

The National Police press service reported this on February 4.

Around 11:30 PM, a resident of a village in the Krasilovskaya community contacted the police and reported her young son missing. Police went out to search for the child. During a search of the area, the boy’s body was discovered in a garden near his home.

The investigation revealed that the child had been visiting a neighbor that day. According to law enforcement, the man had been drinking alcohol with the boy and then left the child unattended.

According to police, the boy was disoriented and unable to control his movements due to severe alcohol intoxication. He started walking home on his own, but after walking about 200 meters, he lost consciousness, fell into the snow, and died.

The child’s body was sent for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigators charged the man with “abandonment to endangerment.” The court ordered pretrial detention. If convicted, the suspect faces three to eight years in prison.
