In the Kyiv region, a seven-year-old boy shot and killed a little girl: all the details of the tragic incident

A tragic event occurred in the Boryspil region – a six-year-old girl died after being accidentally shot with a hunting rifle. The weapon was picked up by a seven-year-old boy who was playing with a neighbor.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv region police.

On the evening of August 23, at around 4:00 PM, the Kyiv Region Police received a report that a six-year-old girl with a hand injury was found unconscious in a private home in the Boryspil district. The child could not be saved – she died on the spot from her injuries.

It has been previously established that the tragedy occurred during children’s games. A seven-year-old boy, staying at home with a neighbor, took his father’s hunting rifle. Suddenly, a shot rang out, and the bullet hit the girl.

Law enforcement officers immediately detained the boy’s father, and criminal proceedings were opened against him for malicious failure to fulfill child care duties and negligent storage of firearms.

In addition, proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder with the note “accident”) regarding the death of the child.

The investigation is currently ongoing. The police are investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy and checking the conditions of the family’s weapons storage.

Let us remind you that on the evening of August 4, a tragic event occurred in the village of Nemyr, in the Lutsk district of the Volyn region – an 11-year-old boy, while driving a car, fatally injured his two-year-old sister.
