In the Poltava region, a pensioner ordered the murder of her daughter’s lover.

In the Poltava region, a court sentenced a pensioner from the Myrgorod district to 10 years in prison for attempted murder committed on contract.

The Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this.

According to the investigation, the defendant and her daughter had an ongoing conflict over their personal relationship. The daughter was officially married, but while her husband was away working abroad, she lived with another man. The mother disapproved of the relationship and decided to confront her daughter’s partner.

In August 2023, she offered to find a murderer for a friend for $1,500, with a $200 deposit. However, the friend alerted law enforcement.

To prevent the crime, the police staged a murder: the man was tipped off, and the women who ordered the murder provided staged photos of the “victim.” Afterward, the woman handed over the remaining funds—$1,300.

The court found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 15, paragraphs 11 and 12 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted premeditated murder committed by order, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.

The woman pleaded not guilty. She will remain in custody until the verdict comes into force.
