A man opened fire in Shreveport, Louisiana, killing eight children. Police killed the suspect during a pursuit, and the motive for the crime is currently unknown.

According to police spokesman Christopher Bordelon, officers responded to a report of domestic violence around 6 a.m. local time. The crime scene involved two homes located nearby, as well as another on a nearby street.
“The perpetrator, who was leaving the scene, committed a carjacking right here near the corner of West 79th and Linwood streets, after which Shreveport patrol officers pursued the vehicle,” said Christopher Bordelon.
The shooting left 10 people injured, 8 of whom died. According to the spokesman, the victims ranged in age from 1 to 14.
“We believe he was the only person shooting in these locations,” Christopher Bordelon said.
The suspect was shot and killed by police during a chase in Bossier County. Police did not provide details about the attacker’s identity, but said some of the children killed were his relatives.
