From July 1, 2025, updated rules of liability for traffic violations will come into force in Ukraine.

This was reported by “Avtothema”.

It is noted that the changes have been made to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, and they concern the most common types of violations – speeding, ignoring seat belts, improper parking and talking on the phone while driving.

What’s changing?

Speeding:

  • It was: 340 UAH.
  • It will be: 1020 UAH for speeding by 20+ km/h and 1700 UAH for speeding by more than 50 km/h.
  • In case of systematic violations (three or more per year) – deprivation of rights for a period of up to 6 months.

Parking in unauthorized places:

  • It was: 255 UAH.
  • It will be: 850 UAH.
  • If the car is towed – an additional 1200-1500 UAH for towing services.

Parking near bus stops, pedestrian crossings or on bike paths will be considered an aggravating circumstance – in in such cases, fines will be imposed quickly and without warning.

Driving without a seat belt:

  • Was: 510 UAH.
  • Now: 1530 UAH.
  • For an unbelted child — a separate fine of 1700 UAH.
  • The fine is imposed on the driver and the passenger.

Using a phone while driving:

  • Was: 510 UAH.
  • Now: 1190 UAH if the driver holds the phone in his hand or talks without a headset.

Drunk driving:

  • The fine remains unchanged — 17,000 UAH + 1-year license suspension.
  • Repeated violation — 34,000 UAH + confiscation auto.

Why are these changes important?

According to official statistics, the number of road accidents in Ukraine has increased by 15% over the year. The most common reasons are speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance. According to representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the state is moving from prevention to harsh punishment.

In particular, lawyers recommend installing applications that show the location of speed cameras, registering in the driver’s electronic account – there you can receive notifications about new fines, and not ignoring seat belts even in the city – the fines have become significant and painful.
