In Vinnytsia region, a repeat offender tried to rape a 7-year-old child: details

A 33-year-old man was detained in Vinnytsia on suspicion of attempted rape of a 7-year-old girl. According to investigators, the drunk attacker grabbed the child on the street, dragged her into the bushes and attempted to commit sexual assault.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The incident occurred in the evening of August 17 in one of the villages of the Koziatyn community. The suspect and the child were local residents and knew each other.

According to law enforcement, the man saw the girl near her house and, taking advantage of the absence of people nearby, grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into the bushes.

The child began to scream. Then, according to the prosecutor’s office, the attacker began to strangle her and simultaneously remove her clothes.

A resident of a neighboring house heard the screams. She ran out to help, after which the man fled.

Law enforcement officers were at the suspect’s apartment at the time. They were documenting his roommate’s complaint about domestic violence.

The man was detained. He was informed of suspicion of a completed attempt to rape a minor. Under this article, he faces 10 to 15 years in prison.

The prosecutor’s office is preparing a motion to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention on the suspect.

According to the UCP, the man has already served two sentences for raping women and stealing. He spent a total of 12 years behind bars, and was released from prison in April of this year.

The child is provided with medical and psychological assistance.

At the same time, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.

As a reminder, in the Poltava region, law enforcement officers reported suspicions to the leader of a dance group, who is suspected of many years of sexual violence against underage students . According to the investigation, the crimes could have lasted for more than 30 years.

As reported, law enforcement officers in Khmelnytskyi detained a 58-year-old director of a foreign language center. The investigation suspects him of molesting two underage students and is checking information about other possible victims.
