In Zaporizhia, two NWCh soldiers attacked patrolmen: a policeman opened fire, one of the suspects died

In Zaporizhia, a police officer used a service firearm during an attack on patrol officers. The incident resulted in the death of a man who, according to law enforcement officials, turned out to be a serviceman who had voluntarily left the military unit.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to police, at around 06:30, a patrol police crew received a report of a man being beaten and an attempted robbery in the Khortytskyi district of Zaporizhia. Upon arrival at the scene, the applicant pointed out to law enforcement officers two individuals who could have been involved in the crime.

During the investigation, one of the men began to behave aggressively, did not respond to the police officers’ lawful demands to stop, and took out an object resembling a pistol, which he began to reload. After that, he began to reduce the distance from the law enforcement officers.

The police officer retreated to a safe distance to cover, but the suspect followed him, threatening him with an object that looked like a weapon.

“In accordance with Article 46 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police”, to avert a threat to life and health, the police officer used a service firearm, firing two shots,” the police said.

After the shots were fired, one of the offenders fled. Another man tried to use a tear gas canister against the patrol officers and physically resisted, and was detained in handcuffs.

Police later found the attacker dead near the scene. Law enforcement officers identified him as a serviceman who had deserted his unit. According to police, his accomplice is also in the status of deserter.

An investigative and operational group and representatives of the State Bureau of Investigation are currently working at the scene. Law enforcement officers have ordered an official investigation into the legality of the use of firearms, and all the circumstances of the incident are being established.

We will remind you that in the Poltava region, near the settlement of Nyzhni Mlyny, a group of people attacked servicemen of the CCK and SP and police officers during mobilization measures. As a result of the use of tear gas, 3 servicemen and 3 police officers were injured.

By the way, on Tuesday, March 10, near the village of Patskanovo in the Uzhhorod district, a group of local men attacked servicemen of the CCK and SP during activities to notify citizens about mobilization and check military registration documents.
