Increased dust levels recorded in Kyiv: how to protect yourself

As of the morning of September 1, Kyiv is experiencing a temporary deterioration in air quality. The cause is adverse weather conditions that contribute to the accumulation of dust and harmful impurities in the air. Citizens were given advice on how to protect their health.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported that at 10:30 a.m., an elevated level of suspended particles (dust) in the surface air was recorded in the capital. The main reason is said to be low wind speed, which causes impurities to remain in the air longer and accumulate.

The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that the situation is temporary, but recommended following simple safety rules:

• close windows in rooms;
• limit prolonged exposure to the street;
• drink more water;
• use an air purifier on maximum mode if you have one at home.

Residents of the capital were also urged to monitor the current state of air quality in real time through the “Kyiv Digital” service and application.

Experts remind that elevated levels of dust and impurities in the air can negatively affect the well-being of people with chronic respiratory diseases, children, and the elderly. Therefore, these categories are especially advised to follow the recommendations.
