Independent experts elected to Energoatom Supervisory Board: Svyridenko names names

Today, December 31, the Nomination Committee approved the independent members of the new Supervisory Board of Energoatom.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko.

She explained that the Supervisory Board includes representatives of the Government and independent observers – the EU, EBRD, IFC, and the Business Ombudsman.

According to the official, the three state representatives will be determined in January, and the names of the independent members are already known:

• Rumina Velshi is an international expert in nuclear safety and regulatory oversight with over 40 years of experience in the industry: she headed the Canadian Nuclear Regulator, the IAEA Safety Standards Commission, and the Association of International Nuclear Regulators.
• Laura Garbenchute-Bakiene is a finance, audit and risk management specialist in energy and infrastructure. Over 25 years of experience, she has held leadership roles at PwC (USA, Ukraine, Lithuania), worked with audit and risk at strategic energy facilities, including Ignalina NPP.
• Patrick Fragman is an engineer and international executive in the nuclear and energy industries. He has over 30 years of experience. He is the former President and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company.
• Brice Bouillon is an energy regulation and corporate governance lawyer. He held senior positions at EDF International and EDF Energy, responsible for legal, compliance and regulatory functions, and worked at the French Council of State and the Energy Regulatory Commission.

According to Svyrydenko, work is also currently underway to update the supervisory boards of 12 companies, including Naftogaz, Ukrhydroenergo, Ukrenergo, the GTS Operator, Centrenergo, etc.

We remind you that, against the backdrop of the exposure of a corruption scheme in the energy sector, the Government adopted a decision on the early termination of the powers of the Supervisory Board of NNEGC Energoatom .
