India has expressed its readiness to support peace efforts regarding Ukraine

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his country will continue to support efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, after meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in New Delhi.

Modi stated this during a joint briefing with Tusk.

During the talks, the heads of government discussed cooperation between India and Poland, as well as the war in Ukraine.

“Let us remember what is happening in Ukraine. We will support all efforts aimed at achieving peace,” Modi said.

He also recalled that India and Poland became strategic partners in August 2024, when the Indian Prime Minister visited Warsaw. According to him, this opens up new opportunities for cooperation, including in the framework of the upcoming free trade agreement between India and the EU, which is due to enter into force in 2027.

Tusk, for his part, recalled how Poland helped Indian students leave Ukraine after Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022.

The Polish Prime Minister also emphasized that India, Poland, and Europe should work together on security and reduce dependence on other states in important areas.
