India has found an alternative to Russian oil: imports of raw materials from Russia are decreasing

Due to threats from the United States to impose secondary sanctions, India is gradually abandoning the purchase of Russian oil.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

As noted, in December, Russian oil imports to India reached their lowest levels in three years.

The Trump administration has been threatening India for months over its purchases of raw materials, imposing 50% tariffs. The US is also considering a bill to impose economic restrictions on countries that buy hydrocarbons from Russia.

Due to pressure from the Americans, the Indian oil refining sector is gradually abandoning Russian raw materials, and oil tankers are increasingly left stranded at sea.

Bloomberg notes that 12 ships loaded with crude are docked off Oman, with some of the tankers having been moving there since mid-December.

Currently, Indian refineries are looking for alternative sources of supply. In particular, they are increasingly turning to countries in the Middle East, Latin America, and West Africa, even though they sell raw materials at a higher price than Russia.

Recall that Russian oil supplies to India in December may decrease to the lowest levels in the last three years.

As you know, American lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan bill to the Senate that would impose sanctions on the purchase or facilitation of imports of oil and petroleum products from Russia.
