The Supreme Court of India has launched an investigation into the recruitment of Indian citizens to fight on the side of Russia following appeals from the families of the victims.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
According to available data, at least 32 Indian citizens have already died fighting against Ukraine.
The families claim that Russian recruiters misled people by promising them high-paying jobs as “military assistants” or service in the rear. Upon arrival in Russia, their documents were taken away and they were forced to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
After that, the Indians were sent to the front without proper training.
The CPD notes that Russia systematically uses foreigners as an “expendable resource,” hiding behind promises of high pay and safe service.
Analysts also indicate that the Kremlin is trying to compensate for losses at the front at the expense of citizens of the Global South in order to avoid a new wave of mobilization within the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakawa reported that 1,780 Africans from 36 countries have been involved in the war against Ukraine by Russia . According to him, 272 Ghanaian citizens have been involved in the war since 2022, 55 of whom have died, and 2 more are in captivity.
Recall that Russia is increasing its influence in African countries, combining humanitarian initiatives with covert military recruitment . As of the end of 2025, more than 1,400 citizens from 36 African countries are fighting on the side of Moscow or are involved in work in the interests of the Russian defense-industrial complex.
