Inside the Talks: What Ukraine and the US Really Discussed

A few insider details have emerged from yesterday’s meeting between the Ukrainian and American delegations. According to sources, the talks were largely successful despite the tense backdrop, offering a glimpse into the high-stakes negotiations shaping Ukraine’s future.
Witkoff, throughout the conversation, constantly added emotional remarks, provoking equally emotional responses, while Kushner remained composed throughout the discussion and agreed with most of the points raised by our side. At times, he suggested postponing certain topics for further discussion. Rubio moderated the discussion confidently. There was no pressure.
Witkoff repeatedly emphasized the “economic benefits for Ukraine” after the war. But it’s no secret—what insight can you gain from a businessman whose only focus is money and whose eyes are full of zeros?
Rubio focused more on the political implications, which is where the topic of our elections arose. The anti-corruption issue was mentioned, but the topic was quickly moved past. Following the ‘tapes’ story, the Americans are reluctant to dwell on the issue in detail. If additional recordings involving Witkoff do surface, it will be interesting to see how the White House responds.
Overall, the negotiations achieved their technical objectives. However, the issue of territorial control remains unresolved, and security guarantees from the United States have not been fully discussed, as the U.S. does not want clear obligations formalized in the “peace plan.” Perhaps these guarantees will be included in a separate document.
The most important outcome is that Ukraine remains able to purchase American weapons and receive intelligence support without limitations. The parties agreed to continue negotiations.
After the meeting, Trump stated that there are no longer any deadlines for a peace agreement. So we can expect Putin to “perform” for Witkoff again—he is said to be heading to Moscow tomorrow
Recall that a meeting of senior US officials and a Ukrainian delegation was held in Hallandale Beach, Florida, aimed at discussing the end of the war in Ukraine. The talks were characterized as tough but constructive, and covered the most sensitive issues.
