Ukraine has decided to liquidate the international legions within the Land Forces.
This was reported by military correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko, citing the commander of the 2nd International Legion, Major Oleksandr Yakimovich.
The major stated that the decision has already been finalized at the state leadership level. According to him, on December 31, the 2nd International Legion will officially cease to exist as a military unit.
Yakimovich explained that all three combat international legions that were part of the Land Forces are actually being liquidated. The fourth, which served as a training center, will continue to operate, but will receive a different status and will no longer have the name “legion.”
Only the International Legion under the Ministry of Defense’s General Directorate remains in the defense structure.
The commander believes that this decision is related to the creation of the Assault Forces, into which personnel from disbanded units are being transferred.
It was previously reported that, despite the Russian leadership’s statements about the capture of Kupyansk, the occupiers control only individual buildings in the city.
